Alaina Teki-Clark (Chair)

Alaina was appointed to the board in 2011. She has been self-employed for 25 years and has business interests in Retail, Hospitality, and Tourism.   Alaina holds another Ministerial Appointment on the Small Business Development Board.  
Alaina has whakapapa links to Whanganui.

 

Suze Redmayne (Deputy Chair)

Suze was appointed to the board in 2013.  Suze lives in Turakina and is a Director of Tunnel Ltd and Coastal Spring Lamb with her husband Richard.  Suze has an extensive background in the Media Advisor/Press Secretary field and is currently employed with Parliamentary Services.

 

Viv Chapman

Viv joined the Board in June 2017.  She has been in the employment of Parliamentary Services for 24 years, and has served on a number of community and other committees over many years, mainly around education.  Viv lives in Turakina and works in Whanganui.  Working in an electorate office puts Viv in the face of people struggling with life’s challenges. She works with every level, nationality, and disability and has great contacts with most agencies. 

 

Trevor Goodwin

Trevor Goodwin joined the Board in June 2017.  Trevor is a Wanganui businessman with a number of interests in the city including commercial property and education. He is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors and is also a chairman, director and trustee of several private companies, organisations and charitable trusts.  Trevor also works with Business Mentors New Zealand providing mentoring services to local business people.

 

Marie Haira

Marie was appointed to the Board in 2015.  She has worked in the education sector for nearly 20 years and is currently employed as a review officer at the Education Review Office based in Whanganui.  Marie is passionate about whanau and community development, and supports the collaboration of key stakeholders to create change.  She was born and bred in Whanganui and has four children.

 

Julie Herewini

Julie was appointed to the Board in 2015.  She comes from a Maori health background and works for Te Oranganui Iwi Health Authority.  Julie has whakapapa links to the Ruapehu and Whanganui, and is also on the Awa Sport Trust Board.  

Julie lives and works in Whanganui.

 

Sheena Maru

Sheena was appointed to the Board in 2012. She has strong family connections to the Waimarino and Whanganui River. Sheena's background is in Maori Health and Iwi development, having recently worked on the Whanganui River Settlement.  She brings with her interests in community wellbeing and supporting communities in the things that are important to them. Sheena lives and works in Whanganui.

 

John Unsworth

John joined the Board in 2014.  

He resides in Wanganui and is a partner with Horsley Christie Lawyers, heading the Litigation team.

 

Jeff Whitlock

Jeff joined the board in 2016. He is a Chartered Accountant and a principal at Moore Stephens Markhams and works out of both the Whanganui and Waverley offices. Jeff has particular interests in farming, forestry and manufacturing industries and is a director of several companies operating across these sectors. He has been involved in a number of community organisations, particularly in the education sector. 

 

John Vickers

John was appointed to the board in 2013. John lives in Marton.
